Ocean Protect

The Soöruz Ocean Protect label is designed to help customers identify our most environmentally friendly products, aimed at reducing our ecological footprint. Currently, 50% of our product range carries this label. Our ultimate goal is to achieve 100% certification for our entire product range in the coming years.

Understanding the environmental impact of traditional neoprene, Soöruz has been committed to reducing its ecological footprint for over a decade. During this time, we have focused on developing new materials derived from renewable and recyclable sources. Key innovations such as bamboo and recycled polyester (2013), Yulex (2013), and Naturalprene (2016) have allowed us to create more sustainable wetsuits with enhanced performance. While many wetsuits feature limestone, a less petrochemical-dependent material, it involves an energy-intensive extraction process from quarries and is still a non renewable material.

In 2018, we conducted the first oyster shell crushing tests in France (in La Rochelle). These tests led to the development of two new materials: BIÖPRENE, primarily biobased and part of our new Greenline range (available since March 2020), and OYSTERPRENE©, available since July 2020.
